Who We Are?
CSI Christ Church Alapakkam
The foundation stone of CSI Christ Church, Alapakkam was laid on 24th August 2003 by our beloved Bishop, Rt. Rev. V. Devasagayam. The land for the church—measuring 4½ grounds and valued at Rs. 18 lakhs—was purchased through the efforts of Rev. Manual S. Titus, with a vision to establish a place of worship and fellowship for the growing Christian community in Virugambakkam Pastorate, and Alapakkam.
The first missionary, Mr. John Milton, served with dedication, uniting believers and laying the groundwork for worship and ministry. Following him, leaders such as Secretary S. Koil Raj and Treasurer B. Bhaskaran Jebasundar, along with the sacrificial contributions of church members, helped construct a small church building, compound wall, and a missionary residence.
On 22nd August 2004, the first dedication service was held, led by Rev. Manual S. Titus. From then on, Sunday worship services began at 9:00 am, and the congregation started growing steadily.
CSI Christ Church Alapakkam — Our Journey 🕊️
From three families to a vibrant congregation — a testimony of God’s grace.
Over the years, several pastors played a vital role in building the congregation:
- • Rev. S. Sam RajKumar: Under his leadership, the congregation, which began with just three families, grew so rapidly that the small church could no longer contain the members. Worship services were held under temporary sheds to accommodate the overflowing crowd. 🙏
- • Rev. Wellington Jesudhas: With his guidance, the decision was made to build a new, larger church. The foundation stone for the new sanctuary was laid on 22 Nov 2009, and construction work began. 🏗️
By God’s grace, a new church building covering2,400 sq. ft. was completed, and on 27 Aug 2011, it was joyfully dedicated to the Lord by our Bishop, Rt. Rev. V. Devasagayam. 🎉
From humble beginnings with just a handful of families, CSI Christ Church Alapakkam has now grown into a vibrant and faithful congregation, united in worship, fellowship, and service to the Lord. Truly, it stands as a testimony of God’s grace and the dedication of His people. ✝️
